Guru Stalker at Russell Brunson’s Workshop – Day 1 Setback

Day 1 of Russell Brunson’s 12 Month Internet Millionaire Workshop is over, and there’s good news and bad. But let me back up a little.
I managed to get to the train station in Hastings, Nebraska just before 1:47 am on Wednesday, only to learn that I should have called ahead to make sure the train was on schedule. Freezing rain to the east had caused some switching problems, and the train was running 3 hours late. Rather than drive back home and come back later (and have my wife have to make the trip again too), I just sat around at the station till the train arrived.
The Amtrak experience was interesting. I had dinner with children’s author Patricia Polacco (who I’m not familiar with, but my wife knows her name). In the Colorado mountains, I saw a bald eagle soaring over the river below us.
Fortunately it wasn’t too crowded, so I was able to use two seats to get a little sleep, but it wasn’t exactly what I’d call comfortable. I’m looking forward to my first good nights sleep in three days tonight.
I got to the workshop this morning and handed out a few CDs I’d burned for the other attendees with some of my software and an affiliate signup form. After not too much of that, the idea got nixed by a member of the staff (”good idea, but please don’t”). Disappointing, but understandable. I’ll just have to take that outside of the actual event, which means I’m not likely to get nearly as many of those out as planned.
On the plus side, I was able to talk briefly with Russell, who, by the way, had seen this site and sent me a short email a little while back. It’s a step.
I was also able to chat with Brent Coppieters a few times and get to know him better. He’s a nice guy — which I already knew, but it’s even more obvious in person.
I was also able to talk briefly with Stu McLaren (nice guy) after his presentation. During Armand Morin’s Internet Marketing Explained launch (Stu runs Armand’s affiliate program), the links in the emails that their system sent out were the affiliate links of the person who referred the subscriber (to ensure that if they ever bought something through one of the links, the affiliate would get credit).
But in the emails I received, instead of an affiliate ID, I saw the code designed to output the affiliate ID. I mentioned that to Stu (I’d also submitted something about it to their help desk when I first noticed it, but I don’t think I ever got any response, and it kept happening), and he asked me to forward one of the emails to him, which I did as the next speaker was beginning.
So, day one summary:
* VIP personal contacts made: 3
* “Consolation prize” prospects: significantly diminished
Well, time for a good night’s sleep, and then we’ll what we can get done tomorrow.
Oh, by the way, there were some good speakers today, and I have a number of new action items. After dinner, we had a bonus session with Ray Edwards. He’s a good one to have speak after dinner (when you might be getting a little sleepy) — very funny guy. That was a fun one.
